Our Training Vessel
We conduct this course on our twin-engine, shaft drive, flybridge cruiser, ‘Bondi Star’. This vessel is ideal for providing the hands-on experience needed to master coastal and offshore skippering.

Course Content
Command and Decision-Making: Learn to take command and make decisions for well-planned, relaxed passages.
Day and Night Navigation: Gain skills in navigating and skippering both by day and night.
Passage Planning: Develop your ability to plan and execute complex passages.
Crew Management: Understand how to manage and maintain a happy and effective crew.

Pre-course Requirements
Candidates should have completed the RYA Day Skipper course or possess equivalent experience and knowledge. It is also recommended to have completed the Yachtmaster theory training and have substantial practical experience, including miles and days of passage making and skippering.

It is important that you have theory knowledge to the level of RYA Day Skipper. Ideally the RYA Dayskipper course and other practical experience.

It is recommended you attend the RYA Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster shorebased course beforehand.

Maximum ratio of students to instructor is 5:1.
Minimum Age: 16

On your successful completion of the course you will receive RYA Coastal Skipper practical certification.

Successful completion of the Coastal Skipper practical course will automatically qualify you to apply for an International Certificate of Competency (ICC) 10-24 metres. The ICC is free if you are a member of the RYA. Download the ICC form here.
