The RYA Advanced Powerboat course in Hull aims to teach advanced boat handling, seamanship, pilotage, and navigation skills. This course prepares you to safely drive a planing powerboat by day and night in tidal coastal waters, even in more demanding conditions.

Duration: Two days, including at least one night navigation exercise
Minimum Age: 17 years

Course Content
Preparation for Sea: Thorough preparation to ensure safety and readiness for sea voyages.
Boat Handling: Advanced techniques for handling your powerboat in various conditions.
Passage Making and Responsibility as Skipper: Learn the responsibilities of a skipper and the intricacies of passage making.
Pilotage: Practical experience in advanced pilotage.
Meteorology: Understand weather patterns and how they affect boating.
Rules of the Road: Learn and apply essential maritime rules.
Use of Engines: Gain proficiency in using powerboat engines.
Emergency Situations: Prepare for and manage emergencies.
Night Cruising: Develop skills for navigating and cruising at night.

Required Experience
Candidates should be competent to the level of the Intermediate Powerboat Certificate and have knowledge of navigation and chartwork equivalent to the RYA Coastal Skipper & Yachtmaster Offshore Shorebased certificate.

Prerequisites
It is strongly recommended that candidates hold a first aid certificate and a VHF operators certificate.
